Param is a shuttle driver in Seattle that is contracted to the company we had booked to pick us up from the downtown hostel  we had stayed in overnight to drop us off at the airport to fly back to Vancouver He wasn’t scheduled to arrive until 8. 00 am but we had lugged...

It was Saturday morning and we were only in the MacDonald’s Restaurant in North Pole using the free WIFI in an effort to try and locate someone who could attend to that beeping propane alarm that had been going off in our camper all night. Despite removing the fuse, it...

Poor old Viv, I think she got a bit of a shock initially last night we entered the Green Tortise Hostel in Seattle after arriving in about 7.00 pm last night. We have only had a brief overnight stop in the city as it appears you can't fly directly from Anchorage, the 4...

The visitor information centre at Nenana is a little sod-roofed log cabin at the junction of the main highway and A Street. It looked quaint and interesting so we pulled over to investigate. Inside, manning the site we met Skook and two of her children and despite it b...

I had the pleasure of meeting Governor Palin this morning in a hardware shop of all places -  I even managed to shake hands.  Willow is a blink if you miss it sort of place, alongside the main highway in Alaska, en-route to Denali National Park. The huge metropolis of...

Flyover Canada, they said, soar with us they said , and they were bang on until the computer crashed as we were coming around the

Canadian Rockies on  a virtual train trip and everything went black and the seat I was strapped into slid to a shuddering halt. A  few peop...

I tell everyone in my life when they are faced with having to make a decision, consider a response or remove the emotion from an argument to give it the 48 hour rule. If you sit on something for 48 hours you usually develop some clarity and can make a really good decis...

For someone who has traveled as much as I have it might be strange to confess to having a fear of flying. The truth is that it’s the turbulence and bad weather I fear and ultimately falling out of the sky. Like an athlete in preparation for a big event, my prep for goi...

I love to travel and get out and about - time and finances permitting.  Most of my adventures these days are solo, with a backpack and on a budget - a far cry from the trips of years ago when I  used to  tell myself "money I have got, time I haven't!", as I swanned into some swanky four star plus establishment and ordered myself a tall G&T.

About Me
